October 5, 2006
Attendance: Board Members Lynda Ring -Erickson; Jayni Kamin; Tim Sheldon - absent.
1. Commissioner Jayni Kamin called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m.
2. Cmmr. Ring Erickson/Kamin moved and seconded to adopt the agenda as published. Motion
carried unanimously. S-aye; K-aye; RE -aye.
3. Correspondence
3.1 An organizational consultation report was received from the State of Washington, Department of
Health.
4. Approval of Minutes — None
5. Administrative Issues
5.1 Health Officer's Report — Dr. Yu presented the current health issues relevant to Mason County
including information about the influenza virus and program, the upcoming emergency exercise,
pandemic flu, and the electronic death registration computer program.
5.2 Health Depai huent Director Report — Mr. Steve Kutz, Health Department Director, presented
information relevant to the health depaitment, including information about the smile saver
program, the influenza vaccine program, and the full scale emergency exercise that will be done
on October 18, 2006. For vaccination information people can call the county and be transferred to
extension 599 to hear a detailed recording.
6. Personal Health Issues
6.1 Healthy Children Grant update — Ms. Lydia Buchheit presented information about the Healthy
Kids Campaign. The grant -funded project is to encourage Mason County families with young
children to engage in prevention activities that promote healthier children.
7. Environmental Health Issues
7.1 Environmental Health WaiversNariances were provided to the Board for information only.
7.2 Water Quality projects update - Ms. Debbie Riley, Environmental Health Manager, gave
an update of the surface water program activities, and gave a brief description of each of them.
8. Public Comment — None
9. Public Hearing
9.1 Fee Schedule for the personal health division — Mr. Kutz explained the changes to the personal
health services fee schedule. He noted the new fees, the changes to fees, the sliding scale on fees,
and the fees that have not changed. If the new fee schedule is adopted it allows fees to be changed
at any time to reflect changes in acquisition costs or reimbursement rates.
Dr. Yu stated that the fees don't always cover the costs of the product. Particularly in the child
vaccines and any of them that have a sliding scale fee. She is in support of the increase fees to
assist in recuperating the costs of the increased product costs.

Mr. Kutz read the Resolution to adopt the fee schedule for the record.
Cmmr. Ring Erickson/Kamin moved and seconded to table the decision of the public health
fee schedule Resolution until the next Board of Health meeting on November 2, 2006, and
make any necessary corrections to the Resolution and fee schedule.
10. Adjourn — The meeting adjourned at 9:45
