Attendance: Board Members Lynda Ring -Erickson; Ross Gallagher; Tim Sheldon - absent
1. Commissioner Ross Gallagher called the meeting to order at 3:34 p.m.
2. Cmmr. Ring Erickson/Gallagher moved and seconded to adopt the agenda as published. Motion
carried unanimously. RE -aye; G-aye; S-absent
3. Correspondence — None
4. Cmmr. Ring Erickson/Gallagher moved and seconded to adopt the regular meeting minutes of
January 22, 2008 as presented. Motion carried unanimously. RE -aye; G-aye; S-absent
5. Administrative Issues
5.1 Health Officer Report - Dr. Yu was absent so there was no Health Officer's Report.
6. Community & Family Health - None
7. Environmental Health
7.1 Appointment of Melissa Lee to the On -Site Advisory Committee to fill the Realtor slot. - Debbie
Riley, Environmental Health Manager, recommended the appointment of Melissa Lee to the On -
Site Advisory Committee.
Cmmr. Ring Erickson/Gallagher moved and seconded to appoint Melissa Lee to the On -Site
Advisory Committee. Motion carried unanimously. RE -aye; G-aye; S-absent
7.2 Water Quality work in McLean Cove, Annas Bay, and North Bay — Debbie Riley went over the
2007 annual reports for the Annas Bay and Oakland Bay shellfish protection districts. Ms. Riley
also discussed concerns regarding worsening water quality at North Bay. Environmental Health
and Utilities and Waste are watching the area closely and are correcting problems as soon as they
are identified.
7.3 Environmental Health Annual Report — Debbie Riley presented Mason County Environmental
Health's 2007 annual report and discussed the accomplishments of each of the different programs
within Environmental Health.
Ms. Riley also noted there are 19 contractors that have outstanding septic paperwork due.
7.4 Environmental Health Waivers - Debbie Riley presented the Board with Environmental Health
Waivers for their information.
Vicki Kirkpatrick, Director, reminded the Board that the April 7th Board of Health meeting will be
a joint meeting with Thurston County and noted the focus would be on water quality. Ms.
Kirkpatrick suggested that Jefferson and Clallam Counties should be contacted to set up joint
meetings in the future as well.
