Position Tracking – 19 vacant funded positions: Community Service Officer–1, Corrections Deputy-7, Deputy Sheriff-7, Evidence Technician-1, and Support Specialist–3 The Board questioned how the sheriff’s office can operate with the reduced staffing and if the patrol is needing to work double shifts, overtime. Chief Beyer stated it is the time of year when they typically have overtime. Calls are prioritized differently to get the most coverage with the limited staff. There are staff still calling in sick and on vacation. Schedules are modified to address the minimums while they are trying to build the program. The shift schedules can help with four days on and four days off. 3. Sheriff’s Office Update 3.1. Corrections – They are looking for candidates to interview. One more staff will be leaving on retirement. The reduced staffing in the jail is being addressed and they are using a workaround, until they can fill the vacant positions. The County recently signed a contract with Dept. of Corrections to be able to accept inmates with DOC detainer type warrants. It is not adding to the population yet. 3.2.
