WHEREAS, RCW 36.32.270 authorize the County Commissioners to dispense with
bidding requirements in an emergency situation when public safety or property are
damaged or threatened; and
WHEREAS, the heating system at the County Shop has experienced a sudden
failure and is inoperable and unrepairable. At the same time extreme cold weather
is predicted within the next four days which would cause additional damage to the
heating system and contents of the building if replacement is not immediate; and
WHEREAS, an emergency exists at the Mason County Central Shop involving
replacement of the existing heating system and installation of a new system.
WHEREAS, funding is available in the 1989 E R & R Capital Expenditure Budget.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that an emergency as defined by RCW 36.32.270
does exist and that the E R & R Director is authorized to proceed immediately to
procure and install new heating equipment at the Mason County Central Shop.
