Updated Date: 17 72015 Arrow Septic Designs 171 E.Vuecrest Dr. Union, WA 98592 October 2,2023 Mason County Department of Health Services 415 N 6th St Shelton, WA 98584 RE: Katherine McBride(Parcel#22029-75-00010) Septic Evaluation & Upgrade Letter Dear Inspector: Attached is a replacement/upgrade septic design for a property located at 201 SE Lazy Dog Ln, Shelton,WA 98584. (Address was 6691 SE Arcadia Rd—recently updated.) There is an existing home built in 1981 that ties into a gravity septic system of the same era. The existing septic system has a 1,000-gallon 2- compartment homemade septic tank with a gravity drainfield of undocumented size or location in the lawn below the home. The owner is planning significant upgrades to the property, so they would like to upgrade the septic at the same time. The new septic will allow 3-bedrooms for the main home, 1 bedroom each for(2)RV/small cabin spots, and I-bedroom for the caretaker house for a total of 6-bedrooms. There is also an existing studio building with a proposed bathroom. The existing septic tank is to be decommissioned or removed and the old drainfield is to be abandoned. The main tanks will be located near the caretaker house and consist of a new 1,200 gallon 2-compartment (operating capacity)septic tank with an effluent filter followed by a new oversized 2,700-gallon pump chamber, (1,800 gallon minimum flood capacity). The RV/small cabin spots can gravity flow into the new tanks and the studio and main house are to have new 2-compartment septic tanks with a solids pump in the second chamber, sending the effluent over to the new main tanks. The new drainfield will consist of 1,200 s.f.of pressure trench using an application rate of 0.6. The system will also have a control panel including timed dosing,a counter and elapse meter to prevent overuse and facilitate ongoing operation and maintenance. This is a compliant upgrade with 40"+of vertical separation. The tanks are over 50 feet and the drainfield is over 100' away from Hammersley Inlet and from the proposed new well. We have also shown a full reserve drainfield area.
