Reference: Geotechnical Site Assessment for Foundation Drains

To Whom It May Concern:
Envirotech Engineering, PLLC has completed a site assessment of the soils for the referenced property
within the area of the new dwelling. A site visit was conducted by Envirotech on September 23, 2023 in
order to evaluate soil classification of the foundation soils, and identify the feasibility of installing
foundation drains.
Envirotech sampled soils to a depth of 12 to 18 inches below the existing ground surface.The soil samples
were visually classified in accordance with the American Standards for Testing and Materials (ASTM
D2488). Specifically, soils within the upper 12 to 18 inches consisted of Silty Sand(SM)with gravel.The
fines content exhibited no plasticity.
It is our opinion that foundation drains are not needed for the development since the soil classification is a
Group I soil per the residential code. According to this code, a foundation drainage system is exempt from
this requirement if the subsoils are classified as a Group I,which includes the USCS designation of SM per
the chart below.
