WHEREAS, the Mason County Road Department occasionally finds the need to
dispose of timber within the county right-of-way during road construction and/or
maintenance activities; and,
WHEREAS, it develops that merchantable timber in incidental log lots may
be salvaged to the advantage of the county during the progress of the work; and,
WHEREAS, the early expeditious removal of the timber from the right-of-way
is essential for marketability and for the progress of the road improvement; and,
WHEREAS, RCW 36.34.010 and 36.34.020 authorizes the Board of County
Commissioners to waive the bidding procedure when the value of the timber to be
sold is less than Two Thousand Five Hundred ($2,500.00) Dollars.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the County Engineer be hereby
authorized and directed to sell incidental log lots as produced in the course of
any work generated by road construction and/or maintenance activities.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Engineer shall document that he/she
disposed of the timber to the best advantage of Mason County and he/she shall
keep the Board of County Commissioners advised of these activities.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the proceeds from the sale of such timber logs
shall be deposited in the County Road Fund.
