AN ORDINANCE EXEMPTING MASON COUNTY AND ITS RESIDENTS FROM THE
RESTRICTIONS OF RCW 9.41.050, AS AMENDED BY WASHINGTON LAWS, 1994 1ST
SPECIAL SESSION, CHAPTER 7, SECTION 405, SUBSECTION (4).
WHEREAS, the Washington State Legislature has amended RCW 9.41.050 through
passage of Washington laws, 1994, 1st Special Session, Chapter 7, Section 405,
Subsection (4); and,
WHEREAS, said Section 405, Subsection (4), restricts the methods by which firearms
have been transported legally, traditionally, and responsibly by the citizens of Mason
County; and,
WHEREAS, hunting and target rifles have been carried responsibly and openly by our
citizens on rifle racks for many years and the Board of Commissioners find no reason
why this practice should not continue; and,
WHEREAS, such methods of transportation have not posed a threat to public safety or
to the public peace; and,
WHEREAS, the restrictions contained in said Section 405, Subsection (4) would place an
unwarranted restriction upon the lawful transportation of firearms by the citizenry of
Mason County;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Mason County Commissioners,
that pursuant to Washington Laws 1994, 1st Special Session, Chapter 7, Section 405,
Subsection (6),Mason County be and is hereby exempt from those restrictions contained
in RCW 9.41.050 as amended by Washington Laws 1994, 1 st Special Session, Chapter
7, Section 405, Subsection (4).
PASSED IN OPEN SESSION this 26th day of July, 1994, after hearing held this date
pursuant to notice published the 14th and 21st days of July, 1994.
