No. 96-1 Mason County Board of Commissioners Resolution 68-96 Whereas, it is the role and responsibility of Mason County Board of Commissioners to adopt regulations to protect public health and safety, "ereas, it is the role and responsibility of Mason County Board of Health to make recommendations to the Mason County Board of Commissioners regarding chapters of Mason County Code pertaining to public health issues, Whereas, the Mason County Board of Health reviewed Mason County Code and made specific recommendations concerning deletions and insertions in Resolution No. 96-1, Whereas, the following table summarizes chapter deletions, identified in Mason County Board of Health Resolution No. 96-1 as appropriate, Chapters to Rescind ............... ................ Chapter 2.16 Combined Health District There is no longer a combined health district, so this chapter should be void. Chapter 6.08 Food Establishments This 1970 chapter has been superseded by a new food regulation. Chapter 6.12 Food and Beverage Service Workers Permit This 1970 chapter is unnecessary because health cards are required by state regulations already. Chapter 6.16 Mobile Homes and Mobile Home Parks This 1970 chapter requires mobile home parks to get a health department permit to construct,alter, or expand,and to get an operational permit to operate one. In the context of current state and local regulations, this chapter is no longer needed. Over the past 25 years, we have developed strong, independent regulations governing solid waste, public water supplies,and on-site sewage disposal. Also over the past 25 years,mobile home parks have become less like RV trailer parks and more like residential subdivision. Finally,Mobile Home Parks are regulated in Chapter 16.22. In summation,Chapter 6.16 is redundant and unnecessary. Chapter 6.20 Camping and Camping Vehicle Parks This 1970 chapter requires camping vehicle parks to get a health department permit to construct,alter,or expand,and to get an operational permit to operate one. In the context of current state and local regulations, this chapter is no longer needed. Over the past 25 years, we have developed strong, independent regulations governing solid waste,public water supplies,and on-site sewage disposal. Chapter 6.26 Standards for Individual Waste Disposal This 1970 chapter is part of a sewage code that has been formally revised Systems by Mason County many times in the past 25 years,and yet this old code has managed to stay in our code book. This chapter should be removed. Chapter 6.36 Sanitary Landfills This 1970-1976 chapter is redundant and unnecessary. It should be eliminated Chapter 6.40 Sewage and/or Liquid Waste Removers This 1970 chapter is part of a sewage code that has been formally revised by Mason County many times in the past 25 years,and yet this old code has managed to stay in our code hook. This chapter should be removed. Chapter 6.60 Potable Water Requirements This 1992 chapter was replaced by a simplified and shortened regulation Mason County Board of Commissioners Resolution - 68-96 Page 2 of 2 Whereas, the following table summarizes chapter insertions that have been adopted by Mason County Board of Health but have not yet been reflected in Mason County Code, Chapters to Insert Chapter Title Comment Undesignated Mason County Board of Health Food Service Regulation Adopted by Mason County Board of Health on March 22, 1993 Mason County Board of Health On-Site Sewage Regulation Adopted by Mason County Board of Health on March 2,1995 Mason County Board of Health Group B Water System Regulation Adopted by Mason County Board of Health on June 3, 1994 Mason County Board of Health Solid Waste Regulation Adopted by Mason County Board of Health on February 2,1995 Mason County Board of Health Water Adequacy Regulation Adopted by Mason County Board of Health on January 4, 1996 Now therefore be it resolved, the Mason County Board of Commissioners authorizes the changes outlined in the preceeding tables to be implemented in Mason County, and that the changes be reflected in the Mason County Code.
