A RESOLUTION authorizing the Mason County Director of Community
Development to apply for grant funding under the Washington State
Riparian Restoration Program for the acquisition of conservation
easements along the Skokomish River
WHEREAS, the Skokomish River Valley is an area of great natural
beauty, and is the home to diverse wildlife; and
WHEREAS, wildlife habitat has been degraded by human activity and
flooding events of increasing severity; and
WHEREAS, improvement of riparian areas along the Skokomish River
is called for as an action under the Mason County Skokomish River
Comprehensive Flood Hazard Management Plan, adopted under
Resolution 146-96 dated December 30, 1997;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
The Mason County Board of Commissioners hereby authorizes the
Mason County Director of Community Development to apply for grant
funding under the Washington State Riparian Restoration Program
for the acquisition of conservation easements along the Skokomish
River.
