Meeting Minutes
March 16, 2023
The regular meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Chairperson Sue Ickes.
Attendance: Sue Ickes, Chair and William Kendrick, Vice-Chair
Others: Chief Tami Beyer, Chief Kevin Hanson, and Becky Rogers.
Business:
1. Approval of Minutes: February 16, 2023, regular meeting minutes
Cmmrs. Kendrick/Ickes moved and seconded to approve the February 16, 2023, regular meeting
minutes. Motion carried unanimously.
2. Chief Examiner Update
2.1. Position Tracking - 16 vacant funded positions: Community Service Officer-Jail
Setting-1; Corrections Deputy-6; Deputy Sheriff-5; Evidence Technician-1;
and Support Specialist-3.
2.2. Notice of Leave of Absence for Deputy Joshua Phillips from July 17, 2023,
through July 17, 2024.
2.3. Approval of hiring of a person for more than four (4) months to fill temporary
vacancy, due to leave of absence.
Cmmrs. Kendrick/Ickes moved and seconded to approve hiring of a person for more than four
(4) months to fill temporary vacancy, due to leave of absence. Motion carried unanimously.
3. Sheriff's Office Update
3.1. Corrections - Chief Hanson reported that 18 of the 24 funded corrections
deputy positions are filled. In addition to the vacant positions, there are staff
out on modified duty due to injuries and out on sick leave due to Covid and
the flu. The jail staff are working overtime. Deputies from the patrol staff are
helping to cover a shift in the jail. Since Covid, the population of the jail is at
50%.
There is one vacant Community Service Officer (CSO)-Control Room Operator
position. Jail staff and Human Resources are working on a proposal to
transition two Support Specialist positions in the jail into CSO positions. They
are looking at modifying the duty description so they can relieve the workload
for corrections deputies in the jail booking. The intent is to transition the
office work into a non-commissioned staff.

3.2. Patrol - It is anticipated that a senior deputy will be leaving soon. The two
new Patrol Lieutenant positions are working out well and are trained to
