It is my professional opinion that the installation of holdowns and retrofit threaded anchor bolts was done in a satisfactory manner and that the installation is adequate for its intended purpose. Dept. of Inspections 615 W Alder St Shelton, WA 98584 RE: Rodriguez-Alcala Residence 51 NE PARK LN, TAHUYA Revisions for Pony Walls Over Foundation Dear Sirs, I was informed by the Builder for the referenced project that the grade on the site required setting the house over timber-framed pony walls. To ensure adequate transfer of the shear forces and tensile holdown forces to the foundation, I prepared a substitution of main story holdowns from straps to HDU holdowns, installed with all-thread rods, please see enclosed details and holdown substitutions. Also, it is desired to install a man door as sketched by the Builder on the enclosed pony walls photo. This is acceptable, and the door will not require an additional header, the rim joist installed at the perimeter is acceptable as header for the opening. The door may be at the location shown or at any other location along the perimeter as long as the available headroom allows for it and that it does not conflict with a holdown.
