Site Address: - 1 (t tuNe.A + 260 E Queens Way, Shelton County: Mason PPROVE Tax Parcel Number: 22129-52-00007 AAPR 1 2 2023 MASON COUNTY ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH Purpose: A site and soil evaluation was completed for the property located at 260 E QueJiBWy in Shelton on December 8, 2021 by Environmental Design, LLC.The purpose of the site and soil evaluation is to determine the suitability of an On-Site Wastewater system. In order to determine if a site is suitable a minimum of three test pits were dug and evaluated for suitability. The site was evaluated to determine that the slope and size were suitable and to determine if the proposed on-site wastewater would be able to meet county and Washington State WAC 246-272A regulations. Proposal: The client is proposing a 3-bedroom residence on the site to be served by an on-site septic system. For a 3-bedroom system the estimated wastewater produced is 360 gallons per day based on the calculation of each bedroom producing 120 gallons per day. Site Description: The site is currently vacant land. The site is in Section 29 Township 21 North of Range 02 West. Hydrology: The site appears to be moderately well drained. There did not appear to be any areas of ponding at the site or in the area of the proposed drainfield. Water Source: The water source will be an existing water connection. The water line is located 10 feet away from the proposed On-Site Wastewater system or the transport line will be sleeved to meet the requirements of WAC 246-272A. Soil Description: According to the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) the property soil is mapped as Alderwood Gravelly Sandy Loam. The test pit profile did not appear to be consistent with the Alderwood Gravelly Sandy Loam series. The NRCS describes the Alderwood Gravelly Sandy Loam as very dark brown gravelly sandy loam about 6 inches thick. The subsoil is dark brown gravelly sandy loam for the upper 9 inches and is dark brown very 1 Job Number:2021-346 Client Name:Ary • gravelly sandy loam for the lower 15 inches. The following layer is a cemented hardpan at a depth of about 30 inches. The hardpan is strongly compacted and crushes to very gravelly loamy sand. The depth of the hardpan ranged from 20 to 40 inches. Test Pit Description: In order to complete a site and soil evaluation according to WAC 246-272A a minimum of three test pits need to be evaluated. For this site a total of 3 test pits were evaluated and labeled in the field for the locations of the On-Site Wastewater System. The test pits are as described below: Test Pit#1 0-34" Brown loamy medium sand, moderate subangular blocky structure 34-43" Gray coarse sand, cemented, common distinct medium mottles Restrictive at 34"due to seasonal high water Test Pit#2 0-39" Brown loamy medium sand, moderate subangular blocky structure 39-48" Gray coarse sand, cemented, common distinct medium mottles Restrictive at 39"due to seasonal high water Test Pit#3 0-33" Brown loamy medium sand, moderate subangular blocky structure 33-37" Gray coarse sand, cemented, common distinct medium mottles Restrictive at 33"due to seasonal high water Soil Loading Rate: The type of soil appears to be a Type 4 with a soil loading rate of 0.6 according to WAC 246-272A. System Requirements: The site appears to be suitable for pressure trench system in the proposed drainfield location. The system requirements are concluded based on the suitability of the soil, the slope of the site and the site conditions. Conclusion: The site described as 260 E Queens Way in Shelton appears to have a slope of about 0%in the proposed drainfield area. The site has a suitable soil depth of 33" in the proposed drainfield location and is suitable for a pressure system to serve the proposed ADU.
