SUPPORT OF THURSTON COUNTY'S CLAIM WITH THE WA STATE
OFFICE OF FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT FOR FISCAL EVAPACT OF UNDER
FUNDED BECCA LEGISLATION
WHEREAS, RC W 43.135.060, states " (1) After July 1, 1995, the legislature shall
not impose responsibility for new programs or increased levels of service under existing
programs on any political subdivision ofthe state unless the subdivision is hilly reimbursed
by specific appropriation by the state for the costs of the new programs or increases in
ser"ice
WHEREAS, Thurston County authorized their prosecuting attorney to file a claim
with the WA State Office of Financial Management for the fiscal impact of the under
funded mandates of the BECCA legislation;
NOW THEREFORE, the Mason County Board of County Commissioners does
hte eby support Thurston County in their protest against under funded mandates ard theL-
claiin with th-, WA Stag Office of Financial Management for the fiscal impacts of the
under funded mandates of the BECCA legislation.
