A RESOLUTION declaring the intention of the Board of County Commissioners to establish a Watershed Implementation Committee for Lower Hood Canal pursuant to ESHB 2514. WHEREAS, a watershed management plan has been written and approved for the Lower Hood Canal and the plan calls for the creation of a Watershed Implementation Committee (WIC); and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners has considered the Lower Hood Canal Watershed Management Plan recommended by the Lower Hood Canal Watershed Management Committee, and approved by the Washington State Department of Ecology, would be the basis for the work plan for the Watershed Implementation Committee (WIC) which includes provisions for protecting and improving water quality and quantity. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Commissioners for Mason County as follows: 1. Pursuant to ESHB 2514, the Mason County Board of Commissioners hereby designates the proposed WIC as the Lower Hood Canal Watershed Implementation Committee. 2. The proposed boundaries of the District are all properties in the Mason County and Kitsap County portion of the Lower Hood Canal Watershed. 3. A Committee composed of.volunteers who own property within the Watershed and appropriate agency representatives will be appointed by the Mason County Commissioners. The purpose of the Committee is to work in cooperation with assigned county staff to provide citizen input to the county on management decisions within the context of watershed management planning. The committee will give input to developing, monitoring, and modifying work plans for each year. The committee will track expenditures and work program progress with information supplied by Mason County staff. DATED this 2nd day of June, 1998.
