ADOPTION OF FEE FOR AN OPEN BURNING PERMIT
WHEREAS, RCW 36.32.120, st,-,t,-.s "..the board of county corflinissioners...have
the care of the county property and the niarjagenwrit of the county funds and business.."
WHEREAS,RCW 36.43.010 stales "'i"he boards of county commissioners may
adopt standard building codes and standard fire regulations to be applied within their
respective jurisdictions;"
WHEREAS, It is the intent of ihe Board of Mason County Coiiiiiiissioners to
establish an open burning pemiit program in Mason County to saftuat-d the health and
safety of county residents;
THE BOARD OF MASON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS DO HEREBY
RESOLVE, effective June 1st, 1998, to establish an open burning permit program in
Mason County, and to charge a$25 annual fee for each permit issued under the program
as outlined in the proposal summary presented during the Commissioners' Meeting on
April 28, 1998, (see Attachment A whicla is Incoiporatcd as part of this resolution).

SUMMARY F OPEN BURNING PERMIT PROGRAM
1. A written permit will be issued for all open fires over 4 feet in diameter.
Open fires no larger than 4 feet in diameter can be burned without a written
permit.
Permits will be issued only for the burning of natural vegetation.
2. The fee will be $25.
. The permit will be valid for 12 months from the date of issue.
4. Applicants can get open burning permits from selected fire districts and
County offices. These permits will be issued at the the time of application.
5. A questionnaire will be provided for the applicant to complete to
determine the proper permitting authority. If the permit is to be issued by
the DNR, the applicant will be referred to that agency.
