Amending County Code Chapter 2.96 Hotel/Motel Advisory Committee to Lodging Tax Advisory RESOLUTION NO. 3-98 AMENDING CHAPTER 2.96,HOTEL/MOTEL ADVISORY COMMITTEE,OF THE MASON COUNTY CODE and CHANGING THE NAME OF THE COMMITTEE TO LODGING TAX ADVISORY COMMITTEE NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Chapter 2.96, Hotel/Motel Advisory Committee, of the Mason County Code is hereby amended as follows: 2.96.010 Established. There is established a Lodging Tax Advisory Committee as required by RCW 67.28.1817. 2.96.030 Composition--Appointment of members. The Lodging Tax Advisory Committee shall consist of five members appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. The five members of the committee shall be as follows: • Two members who represent organizations involved in activities authorized to be funded by the hotel/motel tax. These two members shall be: One representing the Shelton/Mason Chamber of Commerce One representing the North Mason Chamber of Commerce • Two members who represent businesses required to collect the hotel/motel tax. These two members shall be: One representing the Convention Center/Fairgrounds One representing another business required to collect the hotel/motel tax. • One elected official who shall be a county commissioner. 2.96.040 Terms of Office.The Board of County Commissioners shall review the membership of the committee annually and make changes as appropriate. 2.96.050 Organizational requirement. Organizations and/or businesses represented on the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee shall submit in writing the name of their proposed representative to the Board of County Commissioners. The Board of County Commissioners shall appoint all members of the committee. 2.96.070 Committee positions--Selection, duties. The elected official (the county commissioner) serving on the committee shall also serve as the chair of the committee. The chair shall preside over all meetings and shall designate where and when the meetings are to be held. The committee shall elect a secretary. It shall be the duty of the secretary to keep minutes of all meetings, handle all correspondence, and submit any required documents to the Board of Mason County Commissioners.
