This report will detail the design of the proposed septic system. In accordance with Section 1 of the Mason County Public Health On-Site Standards, a soil and site determination was completed on February 21, 2023. Three test holes were performed in the vicinity of a probable location for an on-site septic system and reserve. Soils classified to a depth greater than 6' below the proposed system can be classified as Type 1 soils in accordance with Section 246-272A-0220 of the WAC. Holes dug and verified in February, 2023 with no restrictive layers. Vertical separation is greater than 60". The location of the Subsurface Soil Absorption System (SSAS) is relatively level (approximately 3% max. grade) which will provide excellent stability of soils. The SSAS site is located approximately 200' east of Lost Lake and approximately 25' above high water. Wells, storm drainage lines, water lines, surface water boundaries, and all existing building and lot lines will be located in excess of the minimum horizontal clearance required under by Mason County Health Department have been shown on the drawings. The existing residence on 126 West Frosty did not appear to have a curtain drain associated with the footing. Soils are extremely beneficial to dispersion and drainage for impervious surface related to the residences shall be sheet flowed away from the OSS. The proposed OSS will be designed in accordance with all requirements and guidelines set forth in the by WDOH and Mason County guidelines. Soil are classified as Type 1 and minimum vertical separation exceeds 60". Timed dosage will not be required. Due to the distance and elevation between the SSAS and the septic tanks, the system will require a pump to transport and therefore will be a pressurized system. The reserve and OSS shall each consist of 600 square feet SSAS. SSAS shall be 3' wide and 67' long. The pipes will be embedded into the existing grade approximately 30" and covered with ADS Arc 36 chambers. Orifices shall be 3/16", 3' O.C. Piping shall be CI 200 1-1/4". Squirt height shall be 33". Verification ports shall be required at the end of each lateral. The SSAS shall require an easement granted from 419063390003 with the grantee 519014400067 and 519014400066. In addition, an easement for pumping shall be granted from 519014400067 with the grantee 519014400066. These easements shall be recorded prior to approval of engineering. For maintenance purposes all lids shall be installed to finish grade. Please see attached sheets for boring logs, calculations for sizing, and vault catalog cuts. Check valves will be installed between laterals to prevent backflow to lower laterals. Total Dynamic Head of the system is calculated using lift (7'), manifold (1'), transport(10'), and residual (2') to be 20'. Required pump capacity is calculated to be 48 gallons per minute. The chart below is the performance data specified from the manufacturer of the specified pump. Design capacity is approximately 66% of performance capacity given the design dynamic head. Lateral Orifice Calculations: Design flow is 48 gallons per minute. With a squirt height of approximately 33", 3/16" orifices have been selected. Given the design squirt height and diameter of orifice, the flow per orifice is determined to be 0.70 gallons per minute per orifice. 69 orifices are required for this configuration. There are three laterals in this design. Each lateral shall have 23 orifices. Each lateral is 67'. The orifice spacing shall be approximately 3' on center. Orifices shall be pointed up to assist with maintaining clean orifices. Orifice shields will be installed to keep gravel and debris from blocking orifices from the outside.
