RESOLUTION NO. 154- 99
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, MASON
COUNTY, WASHINGTON, AS FOLLOWS :
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Mason County have met and
considered the Current Expense Budget for the calendar year 2000 ; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Mason County Commissioners , in the course of considering
the Current Expense Budget for 2000 have reviewed all sources of revenue and examined all
anticipated expenses and obligations ; and
WHEREAS, Washington State has declared Mason County an "economically distressed
county, " and the Board of Mason County Commissioners have determined that, due to the
increased costs of mandated county services , the reduced state forest revenue, the loss of motor
vehicle excise tax revenues , and to protect future Current Expense property tax levy capacity;
there is a substantial need to increase the regular property tax levy rate above the rate of inflation
as defined by the implicit price deflator (IPD) .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Mason County
Commissioners that the limit factor for the regular levy for the Current Expense Fund for the
calendar year 2000 shall be 6 . 0% of the highest amount of regular property taxes that could have
been lawfully levied in Mason County in any year since 1985 .
ADOPTED this 30th day of December, 1999 .
