PUD Telecommunication Authority Resolution
WHEREAS , high speed , high - capacity telecommunication facilities and
services are necessary for a healthy economy , for educational purposes for
children and adults , for excellent health care and for many other purposes in
Mason County ; and
WHEREAS , Mason County PUD No . 3 has the ability to provide
telecommunication facilities and services that our community needs ; and
WHEREAS , Washington ' s PUD law , RCW 54 , does not clearly authorize
Mason County PUD No . 3 to provide all the telecommunication facilities and
services that are needed for development of a 21st century economy ; and
WHEREAS , other telecommunication providers , in some instances , have
not shown an inclination to provide needed or desired services and facilities ; and
WHEREAS , SB 6105 , a bill introduced in the Washington legislature ,
makes it clear that Mason County PUD No . 3 may develop and provide a full
range of telecommunication facilities and services .
THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Mason County
Commissioners urges the Washington Legislature to adopt SB 6105 authorizing
PUDs to develop and provide a full range of telecommunication facilities and
services for any purpose .
