Ford Loop Rd. and additional information that the person causing the work to be done, Joe Hickson, was violent and confrontational, I requested the Sheriff's Department to escort our office to the site. Today, I went to the address where Mr. Hickson was residing, located in front of the parcel where the complaint was allegedly occurring with Arlene Hyatt of MCEH, Jenny Nickerson of DCD/Building Dept./ and Deputy Bill Adam. The address posted at that site was 2081 W. Ford Loop Rd. A man I believe to be Mr. Hickson answered the door and I indicated a complaint was filed. We had a general discussion regarding the condition of the property in question. He stated it was an existing manufactured home unit that was being taxed as a garage and had been there for long time. He admitted that he had done work to the mobile home this summer located on that parcel. After he explained what he had done, I requested that he allow me to access the site and inspect the structures. At that point he asked if I had a search warrant. I stated "not at this time". He then said that we could not inspect the property without one. We immediately left the site. The complaint filed indicated several items of concern regarding non- permitted structures. Mr. Hickson's admission that he had done work to the structures recently,which according to Mason County Code, Title 14 required a permit, and his refusal to allow an inspection for life safety issues is the purpose of the request by the Building Department to obtain a search warrant. Further research with the Mason County Assessor's office revealed that a second mobile home unit had been brought to the site sometime in 2001. This would have required a Mason County Building permit and there are no permits on file for this parcel. This office would like to inspect the parcel, accompanied by a representative from the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries, Factory Assembled Structures division for compliance to permitting requirements as adopted by the Mason County Code, Title 14, Building and Construction The parcel that we would like to inspect with a search warrant is 61904-33-00050. 1 believe the address to this parcel is 2051 W. Ford Loop Rd.
