Tacoma Power is not opposed to the existing deck and dock design. However, the construction of the existing structures, specifically the posts and piers, required disturbance to the lake bed; and consequently, would have and still does require a cultural resource assessment, which is a federal regulation pertaining to the hydroelectric project license and the Historic Preservation Act. Tacoma Power will make the arrangements for a cultural resource assessment once the required $900 deposit is received. When the assessment is completed, you will receive a letter accounting for costs, a summary of conclusions, an invoice for any balance owing or a refund check of any balance owed you. The required cultural resource assessment must be completed prior to any further permit processing. Also, you will need to provide evidence that the deck and dock are permitted by Mason County prior to Tacoma Power issuing any permit. However, the construction of the existing structures, specifically the posts and piers, required disturbance to the lake bed; and consequently, would have and still does require a cultural resource assessment, which is a federal regulation pertaining to the hydroelectric project license and the Historic Preservation Act. Tacoma Power will make the arrangements for a cultural resource assessment once the required $900 deposit is received. When the assessment is completed, you will receive a letter accounting for costs, a summary of conclusions, an invoice for any balance owing or a refund check of any balance owed you. The required cultural resource assessment must be completed prior to any further permit processing. Also, you will need to provide evidence that the deck and dock are permitted by Mason County prior to Tacoma Power issuing any permit.
