ESTABLISHING THE RESTRICTED USE OF
UNMUFFLED COMPRESSION BRAKES
WHEREAS , on October 15 , 1991 , the Board of Mason County Commissioners enacted Mason
County Ordinance No . 122- 91 , which prohibited the use of unmuflled compression brakes in Mason
County, and provided that such prohibition shall be applicable only to those public highways or portions
thereof identified and prohibited by Resolution of the Board of County Commissioners; and
WHEREAS , on the 9th day of February, 1999, the Board of Mason County Commissioners set
a date and time to hear the request for restriction of UNMUFFLED COMPRESSION BRAKES on a
portion of State Route 302 and North Bay Road (County Road No . 68360) ; and
WHEREAS, the County Engineer has recommended that State Route 302, from Milepost 0 . 00 to
1 . 30 and North Bay Road from Milepost 1 . 70 to MP 1 . 96, be restricted from use of unmuflled compression
brakes; and
WHEREAS , the Board of Mason County Commissioners has reviewed said petition, received
public input regarding same, and has reviewed the recommendation of the County Engineer.
NOW , THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Board of Mason County Commissioners has
determined that, in the best interest of the public health and general welfare of the citizens of Mason
County, State Route 302 (from Milepost 0 . 00 to 1 . 30) and North Bay Road (from Milepost 1 . 70 to MP
1 . 96) shall be restricted from the use of unmuflled compression brakes, as recommended by the County
Engineer.
NOW , THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED , that the County Engineer is hereby
directed to erect the necessary signing, and keep appropriate record of such actions .
