AMENDMENT TO MASON COUNTY PARKING ORDINANCE 815
(MASON COUNTY CODE 10 . 68 . 140 and 10 . 68 . 150)
WHEREAS , the Board of Mason County Commissioners did, on October 17 , 1977 , adopt
the Mason County Parking Standards Ordinance No . 815 ; and
WHEREAS , certain amendments were made to said PARKING STANDARDS
ORDINANCE on June 1 1981 (Ordinance 70 - 81 ) and on February 8 , 1982 (Ordinance l & 82) ;
and
WHEREAS , it appears to be in the best interest of the citizens of Mason County that
further amendments, deletions and/or additions be made to the Mason County Parking Standards
Ordinance .
WHEREAS , the Board of Mason County Commissioners held a public hearing on
August 7 , 2001 , to consider additional amendments to said Ordinance; and
WHEREAS , said hearing of August 7 , 2001 , was continued until September 18 , 2001 .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that Section 10 . 01 and Section 10. 02 be
amended to read as follows .
SECTION 10
PARKING DEVELOPMENT STANDARDS
SECTION 10 . 01
SUBMITTAL OF PLANS
Plans for every tract of land, lot or parcel, or portion thereof, to be used as a commercial or
governmental parking area for 4 motor vehicles or more, shall be submitted for approval . Plans
shall show the proposed parking area, including location, size, shape, design, curb cuts, lighting,
screening, and other features as required .
SECTION 10 . 02
CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS
Plans developed to satisfy Section 10 . 01 requirements shall be prepared to comply with Mason
County ' s Stormwater Management Ordinance (Ordinance 141 - 97) and shall include provisions
for treating or retaining Washington State Department of Ecology ' s Water Quality Design Storm
when less than 5 , 000 square feet of new impervious surfaces is being created . Areas which are to
be surfaced with asphalt, concrete or similar all weather surface shall be subject to review and
approval of the Mason County Engineer, his designee, or the State Department of Transportation
when abutting state highways .

According to Mason County Health Department Standards for Individual Sewage Waste Disposal
Systems, the area to be used for sewage disposal shall not be subject to vehicular traffic and shall
not be covered with an impervious surface . Therefore, no parking or loading area and no paved
surface shall be located over any drainfield area .
AMENDED AND IN EFFECT this 18th day of September 2001 ,
