DELEGATING CERTAIN CLAIMS MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES TO
THE MASON COUNTY RISK MANAGER
WHEREAS, RCW 36 .45 and RCW 4 . 96, give the Board of Mason County Commissioners the authority to
pay or deny claims for damages filed against Mason County; and
WHEREAS, Mason County has a risk manager position as required by Mason County ' s compact
with the Washington Counties Risk Pool; and
WHEREAS , expeditious claims adjustment is advantageous to Mason County; and
WHEREAS , the Mason County Risk Manager has the required Washington Counties Risk Pool
certification and the qualifications to adjust and settle claims ;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Mason County Commissioners delegates to
the Mason County Risk Manager the authority to evaluate, pay and/or deny claims filed against Mason County in
amounts less than $ 5 , 000 ; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mason County Risk Manager shall always refer claims involving
amounts of more than $ 5 , 000 to the Washington County Risk Pool as required by the claims management policy of
the Pool; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mason County Risk Manager shall report monthly on his/her
approval or denial of claims to the Board of Mason County Commissioners .
