RESOLUTION NO .
A Resolution of the Board of County Commissioners of Mason County, State of Washington,
declaring the Board of Commissioners ' intention to proceed, as a matter of public necessity, with
the development of a roadway project in northern Mason County called the `Belfair Bypass " and
shall be referred to hereafter as the PROJECT .
WHEREAS , the PROJECT has progressed through the preliminary environmental and
engineering study phases (Phases 1 through 3 ) of engineering and environmental planning; and
WHEREAS , the Board of County Commissioners of Mason County desires to proceed with
Phase 4 of the work on the PROJECT to complete the National Environmental Policy Act
(NEPA) Environmental Assessment document and seek approval of a Finding of No Significant
Impact (FONSI) from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) ; and
WHEREAS , to proceed into Phase 4 a "Proposed Action" must be defined ; and
WHEREAS , the Mason County SR 101Belfair Bypass Steering Committee has made a
consensus recommendation to the Board of Commissioners of Mason County concerning a
Proposed Action; and
WHEREAS , the consensus recommendation states :
"We the Mason County SR IOIBelfair Bypass Steering Committee have a consensus
recommendation to make concerning the Belfair Bypass Project . We recommend the
County proceed with the preparation of an environmental assessment for the Belfair
Bypass Project . The project recommended is described as "Alternate A. V , which is
located entirely within Mason County .
THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED , by the Board of County Commissioners of Mason County,
State of Washington, as follows :
The Board of County Commissioners of Mason County resolves to establish a new
County road, the ` Belfair Bypass" , and to proceed with Phase 4 of the PROJECT to
complete the NEPA Environmental Assessment and to develop the FONSI request; and
further,
The Proposed Action being addressed in Phase 4 is described as " Alternate A- I " as
developed in Phases 1 through 3 of the PROJECT .
ADOPTED this 17th day of July 2001 .
