WHEREAS , the Mason County Board of Commissioners is in the process of establishing a single
body to replace its advisory groups as a response to changes in state law that combined the
Washington Growth Management Act and the Shoreline Management Act and in order to increase
the efficiency and effectiveness of the advisory process to the benefit of all parties, and ;
WHEREAS , the planning commission is required to review Mason County Resource Ordinance
applications prior to action of the Board of Commissioners, the public has a need for timely
processing of permits, and timely processing is a goal of Mason County and of the Growth
Management Act, but the normally scheduled meetings of these boards have been cancelled to allow
time to established the new board,
NOW , THEREFORE, THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF MASON COUNTY DO
HEREBY ORDAIN as follows :
Section 1 . A new subsection in the Mason County Resource Ordinance, as follows :
17 . 01 , 120 L 5 . BOARD ACTION - WITHOUT PLANNING COMMISSION HEARING
The Board may act on an application without a planning commission recommendation after holding
a public hearing and making its own findings . The application may be denied, approved or approved
with such conditions as are described under subsection L . 4 . of this section . Notice of said hearing
shall be given pursuant to the planning commission public notice provisions of this Chapter .
Section 2 . Pursuant to RCW 36 . 70A. 390 , the Board will hold a public hearing on this action and its
continuation or modification on Tuesday July 9, 2002 , at 30 a . m .
Section 3 . This amendment shall be effective when adopted and for a period of 30 days .
