Mason County Civil Service Commission Meeting Minutes October 20, 2022 The regular meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Chairperson Sue Ickes. Attendance: Sue Ickes, Chair and William Kendrick, Commissioner Others: Tami Beyer and Becky Rogers. Business: 1. Approval of Minutes: September 15, 2022 regular meeting minutes Cmmrs. Kendrick/Ickes moved and seconded to approve the September 15, 2022 regular meeting minutes. Motion carried unanimously. 2. Chief Examiner Update 2.1. Position Tracking - 12 vacant funded positions: Community Service Officer-1; Corrections Deputy-5; Deputy Sheriff-2; Financial Assistant - 2; and Support Specialist - 2 2.2. Approval of revised Community Service Officer position description to reduce the eligibility age from 21 to 18. Cmmrs. Kendrick/Ickes moved and seconded to approve the revised Community Service Officer position description as presented. Motion carried unanimously. 3. Sheriff's Office Update 3.1. Corrections - None at this time. 3.2. Patrol - Two Deputy Sheriff candidates are in background. The recently hired Community Service Officer-Patrol staff is in training. Two candidates are in background for the Financial Assistant position. 3.3. Support Staff - A Support Specialist has been hired and will begin work on November 1, 2022. Additional testing is occurring for the additional applications. Sheriff Salisbury Retirement Party is November 12, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. at Little Creek Casino. 4. This notice is respectfully given in accordance with Section 9.6 of the Civil Service rules which states that as an employee in good standing holding the classified position of Finance Assistant since January 1, 2009,that I shall retain civil service status. This is done with the understanding that should a time occur when it is necessary to reassume this classified position, I may do so as indicated within this same Section.
