Field Geotechnical Engineering- Environmental Engineering Report NO.: 106210941062021PS Construction Testing and Inspection DATE: 10/6/2021 Set Count: CONTRACTOR: Trico PROJECT#: 10621094 PERMIT#: COM2021-00017 PROJECT: North Mason RFA Fire Station INSPECTOR: Penn Seely LOCATION: 490 Old Belfair Hwy JURISDICTION: Mason Co KA P.M.: DW WEATHER: overcast TEMP:56'F This Krazan and Associates,Inc. inspector was on site for final review of shear walls, exterior and interior. The exterior shear walls were inspected for sheathing nailing, and Simpson straps,at several points during the construction. On those inspections the contractor was informed of items not meeting structural specifications and those items were corrected during the inspection if possible. The priority was on closing and weathersealing the building at that stage. We verified the interior shear walls on this visit. The interior shearwalls are in conformance with DCI Engineers shear wall schedule 9/S6.01 for sheathing, nail spacing, and top plate attachment. The bottom plate attachment for a large amount of the anchor bolts on interior and exterior shear walls does not meet requirements of Note 10 on shear wall schedule. The anchor bolts are set to the center of the wall and standard square washers edge exceeds the'/z"maximum distance to the sheathed side of the wall. The contractor has discussed this, and intends to install slotted washers,as allowed,to meet this requirement. We also verified the type and number of Holdowns and their locations are in conformance with structural drawings. In summary the exterior and interior shear walls meet all requirements on the shear wall schedule except the anchor bolts and the required edge distance of washer to sheathing.
