attorney functions as both a state officer pursuing criminal cases on beha.f of the state and as a
county officer acting as counsel for the county; the responsibilities aynLd decisions of the eyected
prosecuting attorney are essentially the same in every county of Washington, and the sane high
:eve: of skill and expertise is needed in the yeast populous county as in the most populous county;
and the Legislature f.;ther found that the salary of the eyected prosecuting attorney should be
tied to that of a Superior Court : udge.
