Cronquist Road,Allyn,Washington To Whom It May Concern; Envirotech Engineering previously completed a structural evaluation for the repair of an existing reinforced concrete bulkhead located at the referenced property. It is proposed to use'/2" galvanized steel straps in lieu of the designed stainless steel channels. We believe that the proposed steel straps are an acceptable substitution at the owner's discretion. The straps will most likely have a reduced lifespan compared to the channels of less than 25 years. However, we believe that this lifespan is acceptable due to the age of the existing bulkhead, and the need for future repairs and/or replacement. Marine grade epoxy has been specified within the approved plans.Any structural grade epoxy may be used for this application provided that the manufacturer warrants its use for salt water environments. Cronquist Road,Allyn,Washington To Whom It May Concern; Envirotech Engineering has completed this structural assessment for the repair of an existing reinforced concrete retaining wall located at the referenced property. The repair will include two reinforced concrete deadmen placed behind the wall at vertical cracking in order to stabilized wall movement. In addition, a wingwall will be constructed nearest a neighbor with a recent bulkhead failure. See the enclosed 2 drawing sheets for a depiction of the wall repairs with respect to the existing retaining wall. The following conclusions and calculations are provided for this project. The deadman will encompass an approximate area of 27 cubic feet directly behind the existing retaining wall, extending beyond the active zone for lateral earth pressures.Although the active zone will be displaced 3 feet beyond the existing wall, the concrete deadman will accommodate most of these pressures and alleviate lateral pressures on the existing retaining wall. The new wing wall will have factors of safety exceeding 1.5 for both sliding and overturning with sufficient concrete as provided below.
