WHEREAS, Mason County Public Health receives frrnding from the federal departments
of Health Resources and Services Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention specifically for the purposes of public health emergency response and preparedness
and pandemic influenza response; and
V/HEREAS, Mason County Public Health, when responding to a pandemic event such as
fhe 2009 HlNl influenza, must ensure that the requirements of the federal government are met;
and
WHEREAS, Mason County Public Health does not have adequate staff to cary out all of
the response measures necessary to effectively inform, educate and protect the residents of
Mason County during the course of a public health emergency; and
WHEREAS, time is of the essence during a public health emergency such as pandemic
infTuenza;
NOV/ THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mason County Board of
Commissioners, that the Director of Public Health is hereby authorized to enter into professional
services contracts that meet all of the following criteria:
1. Amount not to exceed $25,000.2. Meets all of the contracting requirements of Mason County and has received legal review
from the Prosecutor's office.
3. Delivers a Public Health Emergency Preparedness or Pandemic Influenza grant contract
deliverable.
4. Is fully funded by Public Health Emergency Preparedness or Pandemic Influenza federal
grant funding.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Public Health will notifr the Commissioners
of all professional services contracts signed by the Director and wili provide them with the
reason for the contract, the contract amount, the duration of the contract and a copy of the signed
contract.
