AMENDS RESOLUT¡ON 23.00
AUTHORIZING THE ASSESSOR, AUDITOR, AND TREASURER TO CLOSE OFFICES
DURING THE REQUIRED LUNCH PERIOD
WHEREAS, RCW 36.16.100 states "All county and precinct offices shall be kept open for
the transaction of business during such days and hours as the board of county commissioners
shall by resolution prescribe;"
WHEREAS, The Mason County Board of County Commissioners holds the well being and safety
of its employees in the highest regard;
WHEREAS, current economic conditions are such that staffing levels have been reduced in
certain county offices and departments;
WHEREAS, due to the unavailability of appropriate staffing levels needed to provide for the safety
of employees during the unpaid lunch period, certain county offices and departments have
requested they be allowed to close to the public during a specified time to provide the required
unpaid lunch period.
NOW, THEREFORE BE lT RESOLVED, the Board of County Commissioners authorizes the
Mason County Assessor, Mason County Auditor and Mason County Treasurer to close their
offices to the public during the regular work week between the hours of 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. to
provide for the required unpaid lunch period.
