A RESOLUTION establishing new operational schedule for hours open to the public at the Shelton, IJnion, Belfair and
Hoodsport solid waste and recycling collection and transfer sites.
WHEREAS, Mason County operates four solid waste collection and hansfer stations throughout the county.
WHEREAS, because of the economic slow down affecting the County has adversely impacted the flow of material
to the landfrll by at least I2%o; and
WHEREAS, the recently passed ordinance that requires additional solid waste recycling collect will likely further
the amount of material arriving at the four sites, and
WHEREAS, this reduction in waste has created a short-fall in the collection of revenues to operate the four solid
waste facilities to a degree that the 2009 budget may not be balanced, and
WHEREAS, the 2009 and subsequent year budgets must be balanced to meet State Law that requires that entetprises
funds such as the solid waste utility must be balanced.
NOV/, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners for Mason County that the
following changes in operations will be implemented at the four solid waste collect and transfer stations starting
October 1,2009 and will continue indefinitely.
Shelton hours will be reduced by 2 days, remain open 5 days per week.
Union and Hoodsport will be reduced by I day each per week, remain open2 days per week each.
Belfair will be reduced by 2 days, remain open 5 days per week.
