ESTABLISHMENT OF ABATEMENT REPAIR/DEMOLTION FUND
FUND NO. I l8-000-000
WHEREAS, Resolution 136-98 established the Abatement Repair/Demotition Fund as Fund
No. 118-000-000 on December 29,1998; and
WHEREAS, this fund has continued to exist and increase through the cotlection of buitding
code enforcement penatties (fees and fines) as directed by Memorandum of the Board of
County Commissioners dated Aprit 26, 1999; and
WHEREAS, establishment of this fund provided it be used for the costs of "abatement,
repair, and/or demotition of property as deemed necessary by the Buitding Program"; and
WHEREAS, this Resotution seeks to revise Resolution 136-98 to allow payment from this fund
to inctude costs and activities retated to the processing of buitding code enforcement actions
as deemed necessary by the Director of Community Development; and
WHEREAS, the fund will continue to accrue through buitding code enforcement activities and
witt be administered by Department of Community Development as described in ATTACHMENT
A.
NOW THEREFORE, the Mason County Board of County Commissioners does hereby revise
Resotution 136-98 establishing the Abatement Repair/Demotition Fund (1 18-000-000) to be
administered by the Department of Community Development as outtined in this Resolution,
and more specifically in ATTACHMENT A.
lT lF FURTHER ESTABLISHED THAT the Director of Community Devetopment witl
administer this fund and pay proper expenses from this fund as approved by the Mason County
Board of County Commissioners.

ESTABLISHMENT OF ABATEMENT REPAIR/DEMOLTION FUND
FUND NO. I l8-000-000
The fottowing describes Mason County's poticies and procedures with respect to the
administration of the Abatement Repair/Demotition Fund (Fund No. 118-000-000).
1. This fund was estabtished by Resotution 13ó-98 on December 29,1998 and revised
by Resolution þ? -09 on A'./errgT q ,2009.
2. t-his fund shatt be administered byTñJóirector of the Department of Community
Devetopment as approved by the Mason County Board of County Commissioners.
3. Att site investigation fees received as a result of buitding code viotations and/or
enforcement actions sha[[ be deposited into this fund. lnvestigation fees are
estabtished by the Department of Community Development and adopted by the
Board of County Commissioners.
4. Other fees or fines associated with buitding code viotations, enforcement, or
abatement activities shatt be deposited into this fund as authorized by the Director
of Community Devetopment, and approved by the Board of County Commissioners.
5. Director of Community Development shatl administer payment from this fund for
costs of abatement, repair, and/or demolition of property as deemed necessary
and as authorized by locat buitding codes and state statutes.
6. Director of Community Devetopment shat[ further administer payment from fund
for costs and activities associated with the intake, investigation, and processing of
enforcement actions associated with viotations to the Mason County Buitding Code
(MCC Titte 14). This includes, but is not timited to, the reimbursement of staff
time expenditures.
7. The Director of Community Devetopment shatl not request and the Board of County
Commissioners shall not approve payment of funds for non-abatement activities,
as described in paragraph 6, in an amount that would reduce the remaining
balance of the fund to betow 545,000.
8. The Director of Community Devetopment sha[[ administer this fund and pay proper
expenses from this fund, as outtined above, and as approved by the Mason County
Board of County Commissioners.
