2022.
The Board discussed the request for voluntary demotion and an ADA
accommodation. Chief Beyer responded they would hesitate to have an ADA
accommodation as the employee cannot perform the duties of the current
position. The question was raised if the demotion request relates to a physical
problem, once that is corrected does the employee automatically go back to
the position. Chief Beyer stated the employee would need to be eligible under
their position description to perform the duties, there would need to be a
position open, and it would need to be approved. It may not be clearly stated
in the Civil Service Rules. In order to be eligible for the rehire they must have
the current training certification from the Criminal Justice Training
Commission.
