A RESOLUTION concerning Mason County's request and commitment toward funding of a
third Superior Court Judge.
WHEREAS, in Chapter 76, Laws of 1986, the Washington State Legislature authorized Mason
County to form its own .,udicial District with one Superior Court judicial position effective January 1,
1987; and
WHEREAS. the Legislature specified in Chapter 76, Laws of 1986, that the legislative authority in
Mason County must document its approval of the additional judicial position and its agreement to pay
out of County funds, without reimbursement from the State, the expenses resulting from the passage of
Chapter 76, Laws of 1986;
WHEREAS, the Board of Mason County Commissioners adopted Resolution 70-86 approving the
Mason County Superior Court judge position;
WHEREAS, the Board of Mason Count Commissioners adopted Resolution 98-90 approving the
second Mason County Superior Court fudge position;

WHEREAS, the Legislature passec Senate BIM 5981 curing the 2014 Regular Session increasing
e!er of superior court judges in Mason County to three;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of County Commissioners of Mason
County as follows:
Mason County approves of a third Mason County Superior Court judicial position and agrees to
pay out of County funds, commencing January 1, 2015, without reimbursement from the State, the
expenses resulting from establishment of that position, provided that one-half of the salary of the third
Mason County Superior Court judge shall be paid by the State as specified by Article 4, Section 13 of the
Washington State Constitution.
