HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-07-06 BOHMASON COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH PROCEEDINGS SEPTEMBER 7, 2006 Attendance: Board Members Lynda Ring-Erickson; Jayni Kamin; Tim Sheldon. 1. Chairperson Tim Sheldon called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. 2. Cmmr. Ring Erickson/Kamin moved and seconded to adopt the agenda as published. Motion carried unanimously. S-aye; K-aye; RE-aye. 3. Correspondence 3.1 Metropolitan King County Council, Julia Patterson - invitation to consider forming a State Association of Local Boards of Health. 4. Board Member Kamin/Ring Erickson moved and seconded to approve the regular Board of Health meeting minutes of April 6, June 8, and July 13, 2006. Motion carried unanimously. S-aye; K-aye; RE-aye. 5. Administrative Issues 5.1 Health Officer’s Report – Dr. Yu presented the current health issues relevant to Mason County including information about 5.2 Fee Schedule Hearing – Mr. Steve Kutz, Health Department Director, presented a proposed schedule of fee increases for the personal health department. He requested a public hearing date be set for October 5, 2006 to consider the proposed changes to the Health Service Fee Schedule. Cmmr. Sheldon asked what was causing the need to look for increased revenue and the circumstances behind it. Mr. Kutz stated the State Board of Health is changing the way the local health departments’ bill for immunization services that is given. The estimated loss of revenue would be approximately $5,000 yearly. Negotiations are still going on with the State Department of Health and the local health departments. A few of the increases were adjusted by the increase in the costs of product and others were increased by the additional costs associated with the service. Cmmr. Ring Erickson asked which services other doctor offices offered and which the health department only offered. She would like to discuss any fees that are going to increase for services that are only offered by the health department. Cmmr. Sheldon asked about the sliding scale fees. Mr. Kutz explained the sliding scale fees. 8;43 Cmmr. Kamin/Ring Erickson moved and seconded to set public hearing at October 5 Board of Health meeting to consider changes to Health Services Fee Schedule. Motion carried unanimously. S-aye; K-aye; RE-aye. 6. Personal Health Issues 6.1 Smile Survey data from dental screening performed in Mason County schools in 2004/2005 school year. Introduce Debbie Baxter (works under SB6020); Heidi Iyall gave a presentation on the survey. A complete copy of the survey and presentation is on file at the health department.
