official notice of a deputy retiring in May 2022. Action

The Mason County Civil Service Commission will meet at 411 N. 5th Street,
Shelton, WA 98584 at 5:00 pm on the third Thursday of each month.
During the pandemic, the Commission will meet virtually via the Zoom
platform while in person meetings are prohibited. See dates listed below.

Meeting Minutes
December 16, 2021
The regular meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. virtually by Chairperson Ickes.
Attendance: William Kendrick, Vice-Chair; Mark Nault, Commissioner
Others: Tami Beyer, Sheryl Hilt, and Becky Rogers.
Business:
1. Approval of Minutes: November 18, 2021 regular meeting minutes.
Cmmrs. Nault/Kendrick moved and seconded to approve the November 18, 2021 regular meeting
minutes as circulated. Motion carried unanimously.
2. Chief Examiner Update
2.1. Position Tracking - 11 vacant funded positions: Corrections Deputy-7; Deputy
Sheriff-2; and Records Specialist-2.
2.2. Recruitment for Corrections Deputy - Notices were posted online in various
sources in an effort to recruit for Corrections Deputy positions.
3. Sheriff's Office Update
3.1. Corrections - Chief Beyer shared that Chief Hanson is working on a creative
solution to fill vacant Corrections Deputy positions. He is seeking the Mason
County Commissioners (MCC) approval to convert two Corrections Deputy
positions to two Community Service Officers (CSO). The CSO positions are
non-commissioned and will specifically be assigned to work the jail control
room. The MCC will vote on this matter on December 21, 2021.
3.2. Patrol - No additional info.
3.3. Support Staff - Chief Beyer reported they are actively working to fill the two
vacant Records Specialist positions. Interviews will be scheduled the first of
January.
3.4. Budget - Sheryl Hilt stated that the 2022 budget was approved by the MCC.
MCSO is status quo with no new positions.
4. Adjourn - The meeting adjourned at 5: 11 p.m.

The special meeting was called to order at 10:00 a.m. virtually by Chairperson Ickes.

Business:
1. Approval of Job Posting to establish an eligibility list for the Community Service
Officer position.
Cmmrs. Kendrick/Ickes moved and seconded to approve establishment of an eligibility list for the
Community Service Officer position. Motion carried unanimously.
2. Adjourn — The meeting adjourned at 10:03 a.m.
