Chief Hanson stated that HR/Civil Service could request the County Commissioners for the funds, if there are not sufficient funds in the budget. Chair Ickes questioned if the bonus for Corrections division would set a precedent that would apply to Patrol division also. Chief Hanson responded this would need to be handled on a case-by-case basis. The Patrol division is not struggling to obtain enough applicants for the entry level Deputy Sheriff position. If necessary, they could go to the County Commissioners. Chair Ickes questioned if Mason County is eligible for grants from the state to help with recruitment. Chief Hanson responded that the County Commissioners have indicated there is a funding stream (with the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA)) that may be available.
