FLOOR LAYOUT ASSUMES ROOF FRAMING TO BE MANUFACTURED TRUSSES AND
ALL ROOF LOADS BEAR DIRECTLY ON EXTERIOR WALLS. ROOF LOADS DO NOT BEAR 011
INTERIOR WALLS. OTHER ASSUMPTIONS HAVE BEEN MADE ABOUT THE ROOF FRAMING THAT
MAY NOT BE CONSISTENT WITH THE ARCHITECT'S INTENT. ARCHITECT AND CONTRACTOR MUST
REVIEW THESE DRAWINGS BEFORE PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION TO ENSURE THAT FLOOR FRAMING
LAYOUT MEETS STRUCTURAL REQUIREMENTS OF ROOF FRAMING.
PROVIDE SOLID FRAMING SQUASH BLOCKS', PER DETAILS B2 & D2 AND SIMILAR, AT BEARING FOR ALL
FRAMING MEMBERS TO MATCH WIDTH OF POSTED MEMBER FROM ABOVE. REFER TO ARCHITECTURAL / STRUCTURAL
DRAWINGS FOR CONCENTRATED LOAD LOCATIONS.
IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR, ARCHITECT, AND ENGINEER OF RECORD
TO REVIEW THESE DRAWINGS PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION. SHOULD ANY DISCREPANCIES OCCUR
BETWEEN THESE DRAWINGS AND ACTUAL CONDITIONS, CONTACT HUTTIG BUILDING PRODUCTS BEFORE PROCEEDING.

LP I -Joist Nail Spacing
NOTES:
1. Fastener sizes and closest spacing not specifically
described below are beyond the scope of this document.
2. Fasteners are common wire on box nails.
3. 16d sinkers (3 1" x 0.148") may be spaced the same as a
12d common wire nail.
4. Edge distance shall be sufficient to prevent splitting.
5. Nail penetration for edge nailing shall not exceed 2 inches
for 16d nails and 2 ? inches for 10d and 12d nails.
6. For multiple rows of nails, the rows must be offset 1/2 inch
or more from each other, and staggered.
Rows must be equally spaced from the centerline of the
product edge or face (whichever applies).
7. DO NOT USE the A35 framing angle (manufacturered by
Simpson® Strong -Tie) or similar connectors with LP I -Joists.
The following Shear Connector Replacement Schedule
provides nailing patterns equivalent to the A35.

*Connect double I -joists using 4' long filler blocks at each support and

* Provide 4' filler blocks at all concentrated loads. Center filler blocks
on load.
* Fasten fillers though I -joist webs using two rows of 8d nails at 6" o.c.
Use 10d nails for LPI 56A series. Stagger rows and clinch when possible.
* Floor sheathing to be glued and nailed to flanges of both
plies to provide continuous lateral restraint for each ply.
