Meeting Minutes
April 15, 2021
The regular meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. virtually via the Zoom platform
by Chairperson Ickes.
Attendance: Susan Ickes, Chair; William Kendrick, Vice-Chair and Mark Nault,
Commissioner
Others: Tami Beyer, Sheryl Hilt and Becky Rogers.
Business:
1. Approval of Minutes: March 18, 2021 regular meeting minutes.
Cmmr. Kendrick/Nault moved and seconded to approve the March 18, 2021 minutes. Motion carried
unanimously.
2. Chief Examiner Update
2.1. Position Tracking - 6 vacant funded positions.
2.2. Approval to extend the promotional eligibility lists for Patrol Corporal and
Sergeant to June 8, 2022.
Cmmr. Kendrick/Nault moved and seconded to approve extending the promotional eligibility lists
for Patrol Corporal and Sergeant to June 8, 2022. Motion carried unanimously.
3. Sheriff's Office Update
3.1. Corrections - Tami Beyer reported that Chief Hanson did a social media sweep
seeking applicants to fill vacant corrections deputy positions. One applicant
needs to pass their polygraph prior to being offered a position.
3.2. Patrol - As noted in 2.2 above, a request was received to extend the
promotional lists.
3.3. Support Staff - The newly hired Financial Assistant joined the staff on April 12.
Sheryl Hilt added that the new FA brings her previous exposure to the system
of records for accounting.
4. Adjourn - The meeting adjourned at 5:07 p.m.

Item 2. Correspondence
2..1 Danielle Drogmund requested the Civil Service Commission (CSC) allow the
promotional lists for Corporal and Sergeant to expire on time (6/8/2021)
and to conduct a new promotional test.
Response sent that the CSC took action on April 15, 2021 to extend the
promotional lists for one year (61812022).

My name is Danielle Drogmund and I am a Mason County Deputy Sheriff assigned as a Detective .
In 2020 the Commission held a promotional test for the positions of Corporal and Sergeant. I scored
number one on the written test and was scheduled to take part in the assessment center. The
assessment center was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and I was notified that it would be
scheduled at a later date.
For six weeks from the end of April until the beginning of June, I was out of state for a family medical
emergency. During the last weeks of that absence my family member contracted COVID and I had a
prolonged exposure while caring for that family member.
During my absence, the Commission notified applicants of the new testing date . Notice is made through
our work emails and I didn't have access to it during my absence . About a week or two before the
testing date, my supervisors realized I wasn't aware of the new testing date and then I was notified . The
new date was during my quarantine period . I do know that there were discussions about making
accommodations for me to take part in the assessment center, however, the Commission ultimately
asked for me to remove myself from the list so that others could test. I followed the request and
removed my name from the list.
I believe that the list is set to expire the Summer of 2021, however, I know that the Commission will
sometimes extend lists past the first expiration date . I am requesting for the Commission to allow that
promotional list to expire on time and to conduct a new promotional test. There are potential career
advancements that may become available during the next year or two and I would like the opportunity
to compete for them .
