Subject: Occupancy Load Calculation for Gym (requested by school rep)
Purpose: Compliance Calculation for Occupancy Posting/Use
Criteria provided:
8975 Sq Ft Floorspace total of which there is:
4200 sq ft Sports Play-Court. (8450)
Proposed use/s (per owner rep): Occupancy Classification calculations based on these
uses:
• Sports Events (School)
• Assembly Use (School)
• Assembly Use Community Events(Public)
Date: 1-15-2021
Occupant load factors for Educational uses: (IBC T-1004.1.2)
• 50 sq ft PP at floor area.
• 20 sq ft PP Classroom uses.
• 50 sq ft PP locker rooms.
Occupant Load Factors for Assembly and/or Other: (IBC T-1004.1.2)
• With Bleachers 18" per seat of bleacher length. (IBC 1004.4)
• Assembly uses (see T-1004.1.2)
Info Note: Doors actual width and numbers apply: (Cannot reduce exit width based on
extra doors)
• Panic hardware is in place as required per IBC.
• Exterior Doors: 67 Ft distance between doors (Code requires '/2 diagonal
separation for non-sprinklered) Compliance?Y based on direct exit to exterior and/or
exit corridor protection.
• Interior Doors: 7 Ft. distance between double doors.
• Interior singled door to double interior doors 60 Ft. Separation okay
Conclusion for (Sports Events): Required IBC Code for these areas: Req

Conclusion is to assign the occupancy load of: 464

Signage: IBC 1004.3
Every room or space that is an Assembly Occupancy shall have the occupant
load of the room posted in a conspicuous place, near the main exit or the exit
access doorway from the room or space. The sign shall be legible and of a
permanent design and shall be maintained by the owner.
