HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/17/2018 Mason County Civil Service Commission Meeting Minutes May 17, 2o3. 8 The regular meeting was called to order at 5 : oo p . m . , in the Mason County Building 1, Commission Chambers, at 411 N . 51h Street, Shelton , WA by Vice - Chairperson Kelly . Attendance : Brian Kelly and Matthew Davis; B . Dean Byrd (telephonically) Others : Chief Tami Beyer; Angel Evans, and Becky Rogers, Chief Examiner Business : A . Approval of Minutes : March 15, 2o18 regular meeting minutes . Commission Member Byrd/Davis moved and seconded to approve the March 15, 2018 regular meeting minutes as submitted. Motion carried. Byrd - abstained. B . Chief Examiner Update a . Vacant Position Update - 5 vacant positions — 1 — Deputy Sheriff and 4 Corrections b . Promotional Written Test on 4/ 25/18 — All 7 Candidates took the test and will proceed on to the Assessment Center on 5/23 /18 at St . Edward Catholic Church — Informational i . One Corrections Deputy position was converted to a Corrections Sergeant position . Corrections will have a total of 4 corporals and 4 sergeants . c . PST Testing Event — June 3, 2o18 Qa Shelton High School - This is the only scheduled test event, at this time , in Shelton . d . A list of sites used for publication of recruitment for vacant positions was included in the meeting agenda packet that was sent to the meeting agenda email group . In response to the list, Cmmr . Byrd suggested adding "The Shopper Weekly" as a site to use for advertising vacant positions . We will be utilizing this publication as recommended . e . Public Safety Testing Free Agency Add - On — This recruitment program allows an agency to recruit at the testing site and sign on applicants to list Mason County as an agency to share their test score . This is no cost to the applicant; however, Mason County would pay the Free Agency Add - On fee of $ 1o . 00 per applicant, up to 20 applicants ( $ 200 maximum ) . We are asking Mason County Sheriff' s Office to send a representative to the June 3 test event in Shelton to recruit applicants . C . Sheriff' s Office Update a . Records Specialist — Chief Beyers reported that they have hired a Records Specialist to fill the position that had been vacant the past month . b . Deputy Sheriff — One termination , this month , as noted in the Vacant Position Update above . c . There is the possibility of two resignations, due to outside agencies looking at two Mason County Deputy Sheriff. D . The meeting adjourned at 5 : 09 p . m .
