SPECIAL MEETING AGENDA

1. Call to Order—The Chairperson called the special meeting to order at 11:24 a.m.
2. Roll Call Present: Commissioner District 1 - Randy Neatherlin; Commissioner District 2—
Kevin Shutty; Commissioner District 3 — Sharon Trask.
3. Actions to Consider- Consider Adoption of Resolution Approving Application for COVID-19
Phase I to Phase II.
Dave Windom provided information on the application process. Mason County has had .24
cases per day over the last 21 day period and Dave will change the application to reflect this.
One email in support of the application was received from Carol Lindahl.
Cmmr. Neatherlin/Shutty moved and seconded to approve the resolution
approving the application for COVID-19 Phase I to Phase II as presented. Motion
carried unanimously. N-aye; S-aye; T-aye. (Ex. A— Res. 2020-38)
Cmmr. Neatherlin noted that Mason County has the ability to add restrictions if necessary.
Cmmr. Shutty spoke in favor of the application and statedit's a way to safely open the County
and asked that there be clear communication with the community.
Dave noted that the various sectors cannot open until guidelines are received from the State.
4. Adjourn-The meeting adjourned at 11:35 a.m.

A Resolution Adopting a Request for Variance from COVID-19 Phase 1 Recovery to
Phase 2 Recovery
WHEREAS, Mason County Community Services, Public Health opened Incident Command for support
of COVID-19 response on February 24, 2020; and
WHEREAS, Mason County initiated Area Command on March 4, 2020 to address COVID-19
response; and
WHEREAS, the Governor has proposed a means by which counties may move from COVID-19
Phase 1 response to COVID-19 Phase 2 response through the use of a variance request; and
WHEREAS, the Mason County Board of Commissioners recognizes the need to balance safety
from COVID-19 as well as the need to recover the economy and medical system; and
WHEREAS, the Mason County Board of Commissioners met in a special meeting, in compliance
with the Open Public Meetings Act, on May 11, 2020 to consider the Application for Variance,
COVID-19 Phase 1 to COVID-19 Phase 2; and
NOW,THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Mason County Board of Commissioners to approve
the Mason County Application for Variance from COVID-19 Phase 1 to Phase 2 (Attachment A) and
direct staff to send to the Washington State Department of Health.
