9:00 A.M. Support Services
Commissioners Shutty,Trask and Neatherlin were in attendance.
o The Collective Bargaining Agreement for Deputy Sheriff will be placed on the July 9 agenda for
approval.
o Cmmr. Shutty reported that in order for Community Lifeline to continue their services,a
Conditional Use Permit with the City of Shelton is required that has a$3,400 fee. Cmmr. Shutty
will contact the City to ask that this permit fee be waived. There may be a request for a letter of
support.
o Diane reported that only one Visitor Information services proposal was received and that was from
the North Mason Chamber of Commerce for services in Union and Belfair. After discussion,the
Board agreed to wait for a recommendation from the LTAC on whether to call for additional
proposals.
9:15 A.M. Community Services—Dave Windom
Commissioners Shutty,Trask and Neatherlin were in attendance.
o Kristopher reviewed the State Building Code legislative updates that are effective July 1.
o Dave reported on WRIA 22 and provided preliminary Rule Language from Nooksack Water
Resource Inventory Area(WRIA) 1. Dave will draft a letter for the Board to consider sending
during the public comment period.A citizen position is still vacant on the WRIA Board and
Community Services will draft a news release.
o Dr.Stein has been on-boarded as the Health Officer.
9:30 A.M. Public Works—Loretta Swanson
Utilities&Waste Management
Commissioners Shutty,Trask and Neatherlin were in attendance.
o Public Works Board loan is on July 2 agenda to meet the July 12 deadline. There will be a future
decision to accept the loan and at what dollar amount. Cmmr.Neatherlin recalled that debt
repayment may be allowed. Staff will provide legislature language.
o Cmmr. Shutty asked if there are projects that qualify for a BUILD grant(formerly TIGER).
Loretta said the Log Yard Road project qualifies but they will not be able to meet the deadline this
year but will meet the deadline next year. Cmmr.Neatherlin expressed frustration that Mason
County continues to not apply for a variety of grants.
o Phone call received from Tom Davis voicing concern with the Highland Road closure and staff
will meet with him.
9:45 A.M. Mason Conservation District—John Bolender
Commissioners Shutty,Trask and Neatherlin were in attendance.
o Evan Bauer provided an update on the Skokomish River Basin Ecosystem Restoration project.
Pictures of the project were distributed. This project includes Confluence Levee Removal,
Wetland Restoration at River Mile 9,Wetland Restoration at Grange, Side Channel Reconnection
and Upstream Large Woody debris Installation. Evan stated the Skokomish Valley Road area
known as"the dips"is an area that is problematic to maintain and a project is planned to lift the
road and provide a way for the water to flow under the road.
o The Skokomish Watershed Action Team is meeting July 12 and will tour the North Fork
Hatchery.
