Keri Davidson,Shelton School Board arrived at 3:15 p.m. Absent:Commissioner Terri Drexler 1. Chair Peggy Van Buskirk called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. 2. Approval of Agenda—Cmmr.Neatherlin/Cmmr.Shutty moved and seconded to approve the agenda as presented. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. 3. Approval of Minutes—Council Member Kathy McDowell/Cmmr.Neatherlin moved and seconded to approve the March 27 and May 22,2018 meeting minutes. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously 4. Community Health Report Ben Johnson reported that in partnership with Skokomish Tribe Safe Streets Project,Timberland Library, and Dedrick Allen a safe syringe pick up video was created that is available on the Mason County,Library and Tribes web sites. Ben stated he has visited local stores asking the air duster containers not be available off the shelf. Lydia Buccheit stated they are looking for funding for a needle exchange project and have applied for funding. The program will be a substance abuse mobile outreach in a fixed location with a needle exchange being a priority. 5. Administration Report Dave Windom reported they are working on moving Mason Matters in a different direction and will be working with the hospital and school districts on programs to improve the health of our citizens. Public Health is applying for funds from Cascade Pacific Action Alliance to build the opioid outreach in Mason County. Foundational Public Health funding will be used on water quality. A major focus of WSALPHO is to maintain adequate funding for small and rural public health jurisdictions. 6. Environmental Health Report Alex Paysse reported that Debbie Riley has retired and they have hired two new employees. Mason County hosted soils class for onsite septic professionals and onsite sewage permits have increased 28% from last year. The Department of Health reclassified 350 acres of Oakland Bay commercial shellfish growing areas from "Conditionally approved"to"Approved"and 19 acres from conditionally approved to"unclassified". 7. Annual Report- Dave Windom circulated the 2017 annual report for Community Services which includes Building Planning,Environmental Health and Community Health. 8. Other Business and Board Discussion Gary Plews provided a hand out regarding the impact of opioid abuse on employers and health insurance and asked this be included in the September BOH packet. 9. Public Comments Tom Davis commented on Veterans Court and is hoping to increase participation. He suggested talking to Squaxin Tribe about a tobacco program. 10.
