HomeMy WebLinkAbout2018/09/11 - Regular BOARD OF MASON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS' PROCEEDINGS Mason County Commission Chambers, 411 North 5"' Street, Shelton, WA September 11, 2018 1. Call to Order—The Chairperson called the regular meeting to order at 9:02 a.m. 2. Pledge of Allegiance—City of Shelton Police Chief Darrin Moody led the flag salute. 3. Roll Call — Present: Commissioner District 1 - Randy Neatherlin; Commissioner District 2— Kevin Shutty; Commissioner District 3—Terri Drexler. 4. Correspondence and Organizational Business 4.1 Correspondence 4.1.1 Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board sent a liquor license application for Allyn Community Association held at Allyn Waterfront Park 18560 SR-3, Belfair. 4.1.2 U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) sent in letter regarding comments sent in from L.B.Kregenow. 5. Open Forum for Citizen Input— 5.1 Steve Bloomfield thanked Jerry Hauth and Public Works for their work on the roads, Patricia Grover for her work and ability to adapt when money is tight within her department, and the Truancy Board for their work. 5.2 Darrin Moody spoke about Choice High School and their graduation program. He thanked Steve Bloomfield for his work on the Truancy Board. Darrin then spoke as a resident about the Criminal Justice Working Team and their lack of forward movement. He estimated at least 200 active warrants locally for serious crimes. Darrin also addressed the jail crisis and the need to fix it. 6. Adoption of Agenda - Cmmr. Shutty/Drexler moved and seconded to adopt the agenda as published. Motion carried unanimously. N-aye; S-aye; D-aye. 7. Approval of Minutes—June 5, July 17, and August 14, 2018 Regular meeting minutes. Cmmr. Drexler/Shutty moved and seconded to approve the June 5,July 17, and August 14, 2018 minutes as presented. Motion carried unanimously. N-aye; S-aye; D-aye. 8. Approval of Action Agenda: 8.1 Approval to accept a resignation from Weston Sharer (Denise Sharer) effective August 23, 2018 and to approve the Release and Hold Harmless Agreement to release and forever discharge Mason County, its officers, agents, employees, agencies, and departments from any and all existing and future claims, damages and causes of action foreseen and unforeseen of any nature whatsoever arising out of Weston's employment with Mason County and to pay the sum of $11,742.60, as agreed. 8.2 Approval to authorize the Chair to sign the Title VI Non-Discrimination Agreement- Annual Update and Accomplishment Report for the reporting period from May 1, 2016 to April 30, 2017. 8.3 Approval of the following warrants: Claims Clearing Fund Warrant #s $ Direct Deposit Fund Warrant #s $ Salary Clearing Fund Warrant #s $ Treasure Electronic Remittance for August 2018 $ 181,582.22 8.4 Approval to appoint Morgan Ireland to the Mason County Planning Advisory Commission for a term ending January, 2022. Other Business (Department Heads and Elected Officials)- None. 10. 9:30 a.m. Public Hearings and Items set for a certain time – No hearings. 11. Board's Reports and Calendar -The Commissioners reported on meetings attended the past week and announced their upcoming weekly meetings. 12.
