Mother thing he asked is does he need an inspection for the grading for the road that he has finished?
I told him I did not need to do an inspection at this time.I only remember an MEP for that road but if there was also a grading
permit maybe he does need a building inspector to look at it and you could let him know??
Thank you!
+• PLAN REVIEW CHECKLIST- FOR STAFF (RESIDENTIAL AND SMALL PROJECTS)
1. In tidemark, check parcel for enforcement cases, additions, permits that have not had a final inspection, etc.
Determine relevance to project. If an enforcement case exists and applies to the project, note fees on the blue file
copy including site investigation fee,and add enforcement case number next to `violation le".
2. Review site plan. Check for slopes, the structure represented on the site plan matches builg plan layout, size
(including roof overhang, etc.),and location to adjacent structures and possible need for fire resistive
construction. If the site plan does not represent entire building notify the planner.
3. When applicable read and review the geotechnical assessment or report. Add conditions when needed
(foundation, retaining walls, etc.) If special foundation requirement specified make sure that building plans also
specify.
4. Review plans for general compliance looking for things that may require special attention. Verify use. Make
notes on a pad so that you can review at end.
5. Check braced wall compliance as follows:
a. If prescriptive: Check shear wall compliance to IRC 301.2.2.2 and Chapter 6. Det rmine seismic design
category. Shear walls should be marked on at least one set of plans. Calculate shear wall lengths and
compliance to 602.10.1 and other applicable code sections. Where foundation are greater than 50-ft in
any direction note continuous footing required.Add shear wall label.
b. If a lateral analysis is supplied verify that engineer calculations and engineers pages are stamped
including signature and expiration date. Review design calculations to verify that engineering prepared
with correct design criteria and that calculations prepared in accordance to IBC Chapter 16. In addition,
verify seismic loads(See 2305.3.10). Remember that if seismic load exceed 350 plf/490 LRFD up to
600 plf/840 LRFD ok to reduce anchor bolt spacing provided calculations verified. After 600 plf 3x
framing members required, including 3x sill plate(not 2-2x).
6. Check structural including location in county for snow load values. Review roof framing, trace point loads as you
review sections,headers,floor framing,foundation,etc.
7. Using plan review checklist review life-safety,foundation,and WSEC compliance. Add number relating to code
compliance in appropriate area. Add labels pertaining to WSECNIAQ compliance.
8. Scale structure to verify size. Make corrections in Tidemark case where applicable.
9. Enter information in Tide mark as follows:
a. Edit case(size,code,use(primary or seasonal),plumbing,mechanical etc.
b. Conditions
c. Valuation.Add valuation to the section on the blue building permit application.
d. Fees, add fee to the blue permit application
e. Activity
10. Prepare comment letter,or call applicant as needed
11. Copy plans. Prepare site and file copy.
12. Send file to case manager when permit review is complete.

Hi Jim,
How are you?
Although we've discussed the issues in from your email over the phone, I
thought I'll send you an email to confirm them anyway.
Associated Earth Sciences Inc is working on the submittal checklist, and
they will be getting back to you shortly.
As for the building square footage,we did revise the number such that
only the building footprint is reflected, by removing the square footage
of the mezzanine from the number we provided during the pre-submission
review, and we have also reduced the building footprint so that we are
at 50,000 SF.
Thank you for your help, and please feel free to contact me if you have
any other questions or concerns.Have a great day!

Subject:Geo-Report Submittal Checklist
Good Morning Ms. Hioe,
Please find as attachments a Submittal checklist for both a Geo-Report
(11/13/ 8 Jim Scholz-RE: Geo-Re ort Submittal Checklist-Safeway#1571 at Belfair,WA Page 2
and a Geo-Assessment, it is my feeling from looking at the report that
was submitted as a Geo-Report that the Geo-Report Submittal checklist
would be the one you want to send on to Associated Earth Sciences Inc to
have them fill out and send directly back to me @:
Mason Co. Community Development
Planning Dept
Attn:James Scholz
P.O. Box 279
Shelton,WA 98584
1 will then use that submittal checklist to review the Geo-Report. If I
need additional information I will contact AES Inc.directly(I will
also send you out a letter)for the needed information so please have
them list a contact person.
Concerning my other question on the total square footage allowed at
50,000 sq.ft. I feel that you answered my question concerning that
issue yesterday on the phone with the mezzanine information but if you
could send me an e-mail addressing this I will have it in the file in
case any questions arise on the total square footage. Also from looking
at the remainder of the information provided in both the building permit
(7493 sq ft expansion)and the grading permit(estimated 375 cu yds)
both of these would be SEPA,exempt so SEPA is not needed. My only other
concern from idoing a preliminary review of the applications centered on
parking but that has also been satisfied by the information provided on
the site plan.At this point that is all that 1 need(Geo-Report
Submittal checklist)but I will keep you posted as more questions arise. r
Please send a return e-mail noting that you received this information
and the attachments came through okay if not I can fax them to you.
Regards,_
James Scholz
