Segregations, Hazardous Waste Permit, or Shoreline Permit in determining whether their property is affected by
regulations under the Mason County Interim Resource Ordinance (77-93)•. This checklist is an important
opportunity foridentifying earlvin the permit process whether there willbe any environmental regulations affecting

POLICY
March 10, 1992
To: Planning Department Staff
From: Erik Fairchild, Planning Director
Re: Policy regarding additions and/or expansion of existing
residential structures.
It is the policy of this department to interpret the common line as
being drawn from the furthest waterward projection of the roof
lines of legally established and constructed adjacent primary
residential structures, to the roof line of the existing residence
in question. (As per diagram) . This policy reflects a
clarification of the Mason County Shoreline Master Program,
Residential Chapter 7.16.080, Use Regulation number 9 .
j This interpretation has been derived from information obtained from
the Mason County Shoreline Advisory Board in a meeting held on
February 26, 1992 and has been reviewed by the Mason County
Prosecuting Attorney. The Advisory Board concluded that this
policy reflects their original intent in establishing setback
requirements for additions and/or expansion of existing residential
structures. Additionally, the Board of County Commissioners has
reviewed and approved this policy.
